Therapy Dog

Gus is a goofy but lovable adopted greyhound. He much preferred being part of a human family compared to being a racing dog so was adopted out at 1 year old. He loves people, particularly those who love to give him a pat. Whilst tricks aren’t his strong point, he is the best cuddle buddy.

Don’t be worried if his teeth start chattering as when greyhounds chatter this means that they’re excited and happy! Gus loves to listen (but don’t be offended if he has a snooze while you do speak to him as greyhounds are some of the laziest dogs sleeping up to 20 hours a day!)

👋Meet Angela — one of the friendly faces on our admin team!
Angela is part of our amazing front desk crew here at The Speech Express. She helps with booking appointments, answering calls, and making sure everything is ready for your visit — always with a warm welcome and a big smile!

She’s a proud mum of two and a Nanny to baby Charlotte. A longtime dancing mum, Angela loves helping backstage with sparkly costumes and excited little performers. She also enjoys baking cakes for any occasion, getting crafty with glitter, and creating lots of pink things (it’s her favourite colour!).

And to all the dog mums out there: your love is just as real. You give your time, your heart, your home — and in return, you get muddy paw prints, loyal eyes, and a bond that runs deep. You show up with love every single day, and that matters.

Family is everything. Whether it’s made of people, paws, or a mix of both — it’s in the little things: morning cuddles, shared laughter, quiet moments, and being there for each other.

Please welcome Gus the Greyhound to our therapy crew! He’s tall, goofy, lovable—and very enthusiastic about head pats 🐾💛
🏃‍♂️ Former career: Professional racer (retired early after realising his true calling was being adorable and napping professionally).
🦴 Special skills: Expert at naps, long-legged lounging, leaning in for love, and staring deeply into your soul.
👩‍⚕️ Now: Gus works alongside our OT Steph, helping kids build emotional regulation, confidence, and sensory calm — one cuddle at a time.
He was adopted at just 1 year old and has made it clear that being part of a human family is his favourite thing in the world (especially if you have snacks and a comfy blanket).
🦷 Fun fact: If his teeth start chattering, don’t be alarmed — that’s just how greyhounds show they’re excited and happy!
😴 Disclaimer: He may fall asleep mid-session — greyhounds do sleep up to 20 hours a day, and Gus is very committed to that goal.

👋Meet our OT Steph ✨
We’re so excited to welcome Stephanie, our first Occupational Therapist to join the team! It’s certainly been a fun few weeks transforming our group space into a OT Sensory Gym for our kids to use and enjoy 🤸

Steph brings experience from paediatric settings across Australia and the UK, and she’s all about making therapy fun, creative, and tailored to each child’s needs. She also loves working closely with parents to support progress beyond the therapy room.

She’s trained in amazing programs like:
DIR Floortime, Zones of Regulation, Social Thinking, Lego Therapy, Handwriting Without Tears + more!

Outside the clinic, Steph enjoys family time, gardening, reformer pilates and finding the perfect dirty chai. And meet Gus, her rescue greyhound and learner therapy dog in training — always on the lookout for his next nap spot!

We’re so lucky to have Steph (and Gus!) join us — welcome to the team! 🙌🏼

🌿🐰 Furry Friends Express: Easter Extravaganza Highlights! 🐣🎨

Our 3-day intensive social communication group over the April school holidays was a yummy blend of fun, learning, and connection. We had 10 amazing kids share and enjoy our unique program that we just love offering!
We had the help from our extra special :
🐴 Therapy Horses
🐕 Therapy Dog
🐹 Guinea Pigs

Children aged 7–13 participated in engaging activities such as an autumn leaf collage and nature walk, an Easter egg and bake-off bonanza, and potato stamp painting. These were just some of the experiences, alongside many organic interactions with the animals that helped promote meaningful moments of bonding with peers. How nice is it for our kids to feel they belong!? Bring on next school holidays where we will create another unique social communication experience 🌈
